PIGEON_MAN Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 TROUBLE WITH THE ENGLISH WEATHER CAN LOOK IFFY ON A FRIDAY AND BE A BRILLIANT DAY ON THE SATURDAY,THINK YOU JUST GOT TO TAKE A CHANCE.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 TAM I THINK YOU ARE BEING A BIT OVER THE TOP WITH YOUR POST HOW IS ANDY YOUR UNCLE ?
Guest WINGS 04 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 HOW IS ANDY YOUR UNCLE ? NO BUT HE IS A FRIEND :o IF YOU THINK HE IS NOT UP TO IT YOU SHOULD TRY IT AS YOU WILL NOT HAVE MANY FRIENDS AFTER A BAD RACE
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 IN OUR RACE LAST WEEK THE CONTROLLER AT THIS END SAID LET THE BIRDS UP AND THE CONVOYER CUT THE STRINGS AND THEN CHANGED HIS MIND AND SAID THE WEATHER WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH THIS CAUSED A BIT OF A ROW AND THIS WEEK WHEN THE CONVOYER WAS TOLD TO PUT THE BIRDS UP HE PUT THEM UP EVEN THOUGH EVERYBODY AT OTTERBURN KEPT THEIR BIRDS TILL SUNDAY BECAUSE BAD WEATHER WAS CLOSING IN
Guest Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Think you're right Rose. No offence intended to anyone, but seems a bit of a shame that there's no 'school' where old hands pass on best practice to new hands...
Mike Lycett Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Only requirement you need to be a convoyer/controller/advisor is to be "willing"... Lunacy. THey should make them pass exams. Would it be a hardship if we had 60% FEWER organisations on the road? Me thinketh not.
speedbird Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 some of these convyers dont even have pigeons & dont understand the importance to a good lib after asking the question last year when i saw a lib where several baskets didnt open he said this happens every week & also said well they got 80miles to catch up well you all know as i do if there not in the fist team away theres no chance they back markers will catch em!!!
THE FIFER Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 YES THE CONVOYER HAS THE SAY REGARDING CONDITIONS AT THE RACE POINT, BUT IT'S THE CONTROLLER WHO HAS THE SAY, AND GETS WEATHER REPORTS THROUGH THE RACE LINE, NO DOUBT IF THE CONVOYER SAY'S ITS BAD ON SITE THEN THE CONTROLLER IS GOING TO LISTEN,
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 ROSE THAT WOULD CERTAINLY BE A GREAT IDEA WITH A VIDEO RECORDING THE LIBERATION SITE BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN, NOT AN OFFICIAL VIDEO ANYWAY.
dazza 24 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 MNFC put them up on saturday a.m - sure the weather was great at Lib site - across Lancashire and Yorkshire there was a weather warning in place - available for all to see on teletext. Totally unfair to those racing at the back. Poor buggers were p**s wet through. Make it a fair lib for everyone!
Mike Lycett Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Welcome Dazza !! IT'll certainly go down in history as the most one-sided National of all time.
THE FIFER Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 DOES THE RPRA NOT REQUIRE CONVOYERS TO BE REGISTERED ETC.
PIGEON_MAN Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 THEY DO HAVE TO BE LICENSED FOR THE CURRENT YEAR BUT THERE IS NO LIST OF REGULATIONS FOR THEM TO GET A LICENSE, JUST A CODE OF CONDUCT WHICH THEY SUPPOSED TO ADHERE TO.
THE FIFER Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 CHEERS P/MAN, AT LEAST THEY HAVE A CODE OF CONDUCT, BUT WHAT IS THE USE OF GETTING A LICENCE, IF ANYONE CAN GET ONE, USUALLY TO GET A LICENCE FOR ANYTHING U MUST PASS TESTS OR SOMETHING, OR BE QUALIFIED TO HOLD ONE
