andy galley Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 looks like its going to be a mission for race cotrollers tommorow ??)
Guest Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 With respect, given the weather forecast, shouldn't really be any job for a race controller tomorrow, doesn't appear to be a snowball's chance in hell of a race. Our Fed has postponed basketing until Saturday, for a Sunday race.
andy galley Posted May 19, 2006 Author Report Posted May 19, 2006 sundays worse than saturday, bruno ?

Guest WINGS 04 Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 MUST SAY LANARK SHIRE RACE CONTROLLER WAS SPOT ON IN LAST WEEKS RACE TO HOLD THEM TILL SUNDAY GOOD JOB
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 YOU'RE ONLY SAYING THAT WINGS BECAUSE YOU WERE 1ST,2ND,3RD CLUB AND 4TH AND 5TH FED
Guest Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 Point I was making was that its not all down to the race controller, surely others are involved watching the weather and weighing up risks as race day approaches. If the weather's crap doesn't seem sensible to send the convoy down the raod in the first place. On Sunday's race: still waiting on possible phone call for straight cancellation: from what I can make of the forecast, current weather system clears to the North East early evening followed by another one tomorrow morning, again bringing rain. Tracking accross UK from South West, hits Cornwall Sunday morning [6am time?]. Don't really know what to make of that one? Clear skies overnight Saturday, early lib @ Ripon [or nearer] Sunday?
andy galley Posted May 20, 2006 Author Report Posted May 20, 2006 can anone help ? how do i put text under my picture

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 MUST SAY LANARK SHIRE RACE CONTROLLER WAS SPOT ON IN LAST WEEKS RACE TO HOLD THEM TILL SUNDAY GOOD JOB WELL HE WASN'T SPOT ON THIS WEEK WHEN HE PUT THEM UP AT 2.45 WHEN HE MUST HAVE HAD BLUE TINTED GLASSES AND HE THOUGHT THE SKY WAS BLUE^&*&^%^&*.
Guest Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Must admit, thought Lanarkshire had held over at Ripon on Saturday; The Midland and other West coast route feds also liberated. Brought the birds back to Gretna from Appleby, leaders into our area taking 2 hours 30 minutes for 70/80 miles and returns [saturday] in single figures.
square_peg Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 HAS TO BE WORST JOB IN THE WORLD. WHEN HE GETS IT WRONG EVERYBODY (INCLUDING ME) WANTS BLOOD , WHEN HE GETS IT RITE ,WELL ALL THEY ARE DOING IS THERE JOB AND THATS WHAT THEY ARE PAID FOR.I DONT THINK WAGES WOULD COVER A MONTHS PHONE BILL NEVER MIND A WHOLE SEASON. ALL WE CAN ASK IS FOR HIM TO GIVE THE DOO'S A CHANCE,REMEMBER THO HIS DOO'S ARE SITTING IN THE BASKET NEXT TO MINE SO HE AINT GOING TO DO ANY THING DAFT IS HE

THYE NEVER WENT THERE THEY JUST TOLD US ON SATURDAY MORNING THAT THE BIRDS WOULD BE RELEASED AT KELSO. YOU DONT FLY IN LANARKSHIRE SQUARE _PEG SO YOU DONT KNOW OUR CONTROLLER HE HAS PUT OUR BIRDS UP BEFORE IN ^*^*^* WEATHER
Guest Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 I think race controllers do a good job all be it a thankless one, however, I feel that some of them are to close to the financial side of things and income/expenditure outweigh the safety of the birds.

IT IS A THANKLESS JOB BUT SOME OF THEM SHOULD PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE WEATHER FORECAST. LAST YEAR ON ONE OCCASION AT A RACE FROM KELSO WHEN THE WEATHER WASN'T GREAT IN THE MORNING BUT WAS GOING TO GREAT LATER IN THE DAY OUR TRANSPORTER CAME HOME BECAUSE THE DRIVER WANTED TO SEE THE FOOTBALL AND HE SAID THE WEATHER WAS TOO BAD TO WAIT ,EVERYBODY ELSE WAITED TILL AFTERNOON RELEASED THEIR BIRDS AND HAD A GREAT RACE OURS WERE TAKEN BACK DOWN ON SUNDAY AND WE HAD A TERRIBLE RACE.
speedbird Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 very hard job to please everyone!!! what i do think that would help is where ever there is a race point in the uk is to get intouch with a club/fed in that area & for them to take control of the lib from that site ie weather/fair lib as ive seen convoyers let go in bad weather cos they want to be on there way home & also some baskets not opening & with some feds where 2feds on same transporter have been let go with wrong lib!! sure other members in that area would love to get involved i know i would over see lib in our area
THE FIFER Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 FIFE FED GOT IR RIGHT THIS WEEK RACING SUNDAY, WELL DONE TO THE CONTROLLER
Guest WINGS 04 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 WELL HE WASN'T SPOT ON THIS WEEK WHEN HE PUT THEM UP AT 2.45 WHEN HE MUST HAVE HAD BLUE TINTED GLASSES AND HE THOUGHT THE SKY WAS BLUE^&*&^%^&*. tam i was only saying he got last weeks race right but i do not think this weekends race was all downe to the race controller
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 WHO THE expletive removed* PUT THEM UP THEN ?
PIGEON_MAN Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THERE IS SOME CONFUSION HERE OVER WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LIBERATING THE PIGEONS.I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THE RACE CONTROLLER IS THE PERSON AT THE HOME END WHO WOULD NORMALLY KEEP IN CONTACT WITH THE CONVOYER-LIBERATOR WHO IS WITH THE BIRDS,AND WHO WOULD GET WEATHER FORCASTS ON THE LINE OF FLIGHT.NOT SURE IF THERE ARE DIFFERANT RULES IN THE SCOTTISH UNION BUT IN THE RPRA IT IS THE CONVOYER-LIBERATOR WHO IS ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LIBERATION WEATHER OR NOT HE AS A RACE CONTROLLER OR NOT.
Guest WINGS 04 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 WHO THE expletive removed* PUT THEM UP THEN ? TAM I THINK YOU ARE BEING A BIT OVER THE TOP WITH YOUR POST
THE FIFER Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 SURELY THE CONVOYER LOOKS AFTER THE BIRDS AND LETS THE CONTROLLER KNOW THE SITUATION AT THE RACE POINT, BUT IT'S THE CONTROLLER WHO SAYS GO OR NOT, AND GETS WEATHER REPORTS, ETC. CONVOY MEANS TO "GET THEM THERE", CONTROL MEANS "IN CHARGE."
