Yorkshire Lass Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 Next weekend the pigeons of the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Combine were due to race from Fraserburgh. The first Fraserburgh race earlier in the season saw the three race convoyers threatened by local residents/youths resulting in them fearing leaving the cab for the abuse they were receiving and for the pigeons welfare. have any other organisations experienced this or do any local fanciers know of an alternative site in the area we could use? We will be racing from Elgin next week although have not always had good racing from here.
Guest NUMA Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 why has no one answered yorkshire lass ? or am i missing something ???
Guest Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 I think this problem would be easier to clarify and answer, if we knew what the local residents/youths were actually complaining about, were they complaining about the fact that the pigeons were competing in a race, if so I would imagne these were AR buttholes, who I believe are very mobile, so would possibly protest wherever the trucks were situated, personally my advice would be to take a few German sheps and baseball bats along, as I see this is maybe the thin end of the wedge with the AR people, I think an incident like this was reported on here last year. The last thing you want to do is give into these people. They are very slowing attacking the sport through the back door in the States by lobbying airlines not to carry our birds, we move our birds from flyer to flyer or to futurity races via the United states Postal system, and more and more airlines are refusing to take out birds because of PETA blanket petitioning.
Yorkshire Lass Posted July 2, 2006 Author Report Posted July 2, 2006 We don't know why the local 'yobs' seem to have it in for the pigeon transporter. We have reports that the lib site is in the middle of what seems to be not a very nice area with many drug dealers present (although this is only word of mouth). We'd like to know if other organisations have the same problems. On a different matter it has been confirmed that Harry Cartwright of Beeswing has won the Queens Cup with a bit of help from his Granddaughter Emma. A full report has been sent to the BHW and will hopefully appear this week.
jimmy white Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 i would report the matter to the police, for the convoyers safety[and the pigeons] if any of these yobs were hurt after that,,,,,,well , i would phone the police every 10 mins if need be, and a letter from the organisers,to the police before hand as well, if the police were seen not to be doing their job , theres a lot you could do.
frank-123 Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 could you not find a safer site to liberate from or sit away from the liberation site until ready to liberate say move the transporter into position 1hr before liberation
