T_T Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 Hi Folks, My question refers to Widowhood cocks. I have a friend who races Widowhood in a North Road and a South Road club. He will win one of those clubs most week ends. What struck me on popping round to see him was that the Widowhood doors were wide open with the cocks contained within the loft by a wire front. All of his young birds were strolling the lawn. When he lets his natural pigeons out, the Widow cocks door remains open. The only time he closes them, is when THEIR HENS are out. We talk about closing the doors and resting the cocks, does it really matter as long as their CONTENT. ?
stevebelbin Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 I think it does affect them. My lofts are only about 10ft appart and face each other YBs one and Widowhoods the other, and when I let my YBs out the cocks go daft in their loft and wont sit still. Ive had to put blinds up to stop them seeing out but they can still hear them outside and still go daft.
kaybee Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 My widowhood cocks can see out of their loft at all times of the day, 365 days of the week. there is a lot of things told to us about widowhood that to me, at times just dont make sense and believe me, I learn something new every day. i think that the feeding systems in place today have more to do with how much our widow cocks are allowed to do and how they perform at the weekend than most factors. You must make sure they have put the energy in during the week, but what you do on a Friday is paramount to your success on the Saturday.
T_T Posted July 6, 2006 Author Report Posted July 6, 2006 Hi Kaybe, I think most of us can learn something new most days but that's a good un' I've learnt from you, 365 days in a WEEK. LOL. How time flys.
kaybee Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 sure feels like 365 days in my week just now, but im sure u know what was meant.
stevebelbin Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Kaybee how do your widowhoods fly when there out, if the can see other pigeons all day long??
