Sean,

I believe the same as Matthew.

We don't train our pigeons to find their way home, they either know it or they don't.  We train to educate and get/keep them fit.

Now my youngsters go twice a day to 18 miles and I am very reluctant to train them any farther.  Now 18 miles takes 25/30 minutes or less.  In total, thats less than 60 minutes a day exercise.  That shouldn't harm any pigeon and by training twice a day, they get to know every blade of grass on the final countdown to the loft.  As I've said before, they don't get fed up with the basket, THEY GET USED TO IT.

In training twice a day any that show any signs of weakness, shouldn't be there.
