rlez Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 looking throu the national results i found quite a few yearlings in the results over 500 mls.what i want to know is whether they were testing their stock because if they were showing any form up till the the 400ml stage would other fanciers stop them for next year.or have they sent them because they were not showing and allways late and got quite a shock to time them in. les
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 THE LANARKSHIRE RACE FROM FALAISE HAD A LARGE NUMBER OF YEARLINGS IN IT AND IN FACT TWO MEN I KNOW ONE FROM LARKHALL ROBERT SIMPSON WAS I THINK 5TH OPEN AND NORMAN ORR FROM NETHERBURN CLUB WAS 7TH OPEN AND NORMAN HAD HIS BIRD WELL POOLED UP SO THEY WERE NOT SENT JUST HOPING FOR SOMETHING AND IN THE RESULT SHEET FOR THAT RACE THERE IS A LARGE AMMOUNT OF YEARLINGS ENTERED.
Guest Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 i was 2nd fed with a yearling few years ago timed in at 8.44 on the night beaten by 4 mins with birds i gave to a mate.
ribble Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 few will do it ok,but if you have to rely on yearlings its because you dont have any decent old birds..
Guest Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 WELL AT THE SAME RACE I WAS 2ND CLUB AND 6TH FED WITH A 2 YEAR OLD
Guest WINGS 04 Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I THINK THE BLOOD HAS TO BE THERE FOR THE 500+ RACES YEARLING OR OLD BIRDS
jimmy white Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 yearlings will score from 500 miles plus but i would allways remember a bird is not fully mature till 2yo. a two year old pigeon that has been honed from the egg for 500 mile races and scores, could repeat this every year, but a yearling scoring like that would be more unlikely to do so, but as with pigeons theres allways exception to the rule, only my opinion
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 few will do it ok,but if you have to rely on yearlings its because you dont have any decent old birds.. TELL THAT TO NORMAN ORR WHO REGULARILY TIMES IN YEARLINGS IN DISTANCE RACES AND HE HAS PLENTY DECENT OLD BIRDS BECAUSE HE HAS JUST WON LANARKSHIRE SOCIAL CIRCLE GOLD CUP FOR THE FOURTH TIME MAYBE ITS JUST YOU THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE DECENT OLD BIRDS
Guest Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 few will do it ok,but if you have to rely on yearlings its because you dont have any decent old birds.. nice one tammy
pender Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 i sent yearling to the fed falaise race because i fancied it i got it about 3.40 on 2nd day , was pleased with its effort . but i can see were jimmy coming from as there few yearlings who go on to win year after year from 500 mile after they flown channel as yearlings. then again there not many old birds do it either lol.
ribble Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 maybe jimmy put it a bit better than i did. tampon,as for me not having any decent birds what about your own.i mean you have had to quote another mans results to have a dig. clockman, grow up my post was not directed at you not having any decent old birds
Guest Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 (tampon) think its you that needs to grow up :-/ :-/

REGARDING MY OWN BIRDS THIS YEAR I HAVE WON THE OLD BIRD AVERAGES, THE CUP FOR AVERAGES FROM NEWARK LEICESTER ,HUNTINGDON AND MAIDSTONE, THE CUP FOR THE AVERAGES FROM LEICESTER ,HUNTINGDON,MAIDSTONE AND FALAISE,THE FIRST THREE IN THE CLUB FROM MAIDSTONE, THE FIRST BIRD WON BY AN HOUR,TWO IN THE FIRST THREE FROM HUNTINGDON,1st AND 3rd FROM LEICESTER SO I DONT THINK MY OLD BIRDS ARE THAT BAD WOULD BE NICE TO SEE YOUR PRIZE LIST THIS YEAR FOR YOUR OLD BIRDS DRIBBLE
