I got an E-mail concerning the World Ace Pigeon Challenge it was supposedly from some chinese newspaper has anyone else got this or does anyone know if its a scam it basically says Barry Yu is running the race and has put in a bunch of entries and listed them as other peoples names and then not put up the money and that they dont plan on training the pigeons much as to not lose many so they get a lot of money in the pool and then he will train his birds so that they are not lost and then plans to win race with all these other entries is this true or just sour grapes ???

Sounds like a lot of the American Futurity Races, don't train them you will go and spend money backing your bird.

Unless I know the race and the handler/s very well I keep my birds at home and my money in my pocket

I called there and asked to speak to the guy in charge they told me that this was being circulated by somebody running another race so now I don't know who to belive

As far as american futuritys I dont think this is an accurate description I have had just the opposite happen most of the time they are so overtrained they cant race or they are lost during training if I consistently have 25% go to the race I am happy

I've been to two where the birds have definately not been trained out properly, in both cases nearly 200 birds were sent and in one case they got 7 total and the other 3 and I've had comments from other people who have been to races where the birds haven't been trained.

the ones I have been to have had good returns but they only have 30% of the birds left that they started with mostly due to overcrowding last year I had a bird in the Florida race that had hit the sheet and then the handler turned him out the DAY he had come off a 200 mile race because he felt the bird needed exercise of course he immiedetly got snatched by a hawk so there went my chances

I just dont see how you can lose that many birds I lose 10-15%  of what I start training and once the races start I lose very few on tough courses I am usally the guy with good returns so I know my birds will come home they might not be in fast but they do show up so how are these birds getting lost ???

Rocky,  I started out with 67 birds this year, 2 got killed when they flew into a tree, I've taken 2 off the team and I still have 58. and they've been out to 108 miles.

I much prefer the one loft races, all birds are treated equally and you don't have to put up with different handlers preferences

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THE ONE LOFT RACES IS THE FACT THAT THE BIRDS ARE COMING IN FROM ALL PARTS OF THE COUNTRY AND FROM GOOD FANCIERS AS WELL AS BAD,SOME THAT COME IN ARE ALLREADY DISEASED AND PROBABLY HAVE NO CHANCE OF SURVIVAL FROM THE START,AND THESE ARE SOMETIMES FROM REALLY GOOD FANCIER,S WHOM YOU WOULD THINK WOULD TAKE GREATER CARE IN SENDING THEM.

JUST RECEIVED THIS E-MAIL

Important Information!

My name is Gayle Renfroe. I am the Race Chairman of THE WORLD ACE CHALLENGE. My job is to make absolutely sure all pigeons will be treated equal and no pigeon will get special treatment. All birds have covered bands.

As to the latest rumor being circulated, I felt it necessary to respond. I don’t know why this would be significant to anyone but Barry Yu did indeed purchase birds from Mike Ganus. ...These birds had no DNA testing. Barry Yu did not accuse Mike Ganus of Lying about anything. End of story.

Barry Yu‘s involvement in this race is only to help promote it, as many others have. Barry Yu will not receive any money from this race nor has he invested any money in this race. Barry has entered 3 teams and paid the entry fee. Barry, like many others, has banded a few birds for: Jianzhu Kong and Aike Zhang. They wished to enter this race but were not allowed to send birds from China. They paid the entry fee with no partnership with Barry.

Each race release will be observed by a Game Warden to see that all birds will be turned out together and released from the designated race station. Anyone who wishes may accompany the hauler and observe the release.

All the birds now are flying well. It is very hot, so they don’t fly very long. Very soon the real serious training will begin. *** The rest of the email really doesn’t even deserve a response as it is a bunch of insignificant rambling of rumor with no basis.

Regards,

Gayle Renfroe
