When do you call a halt to training.

Interested in other opinions here. For the last couple of years I have put aside about 6 youngbirds off my best racers trained them hard with the others but not raced them. Each year they have been my best yearlings for the channel, just left to mature. This year I have decided to train privately in 2's and 3's and then shelf for next year. As I won't be racing up till september, when do you consider it to be enough training.

They have had 12 tosses so far and 9 of those have been at 30 miles a couple of which in 3's. From this week I will be training with 2 friends so the birds have to break 3 ways in about a 15 mile arc. One lot breaking to the north east, one lot going straight east and my lot breaking to the southeast.

as soon as your happy with them bud,and feel you have educated them to home fast without any mistakes,i have bred pigeons and they have never seen a basket as a young bird and year after have been in the first 3 in the combine winning many cards.

I used to stop trainining my young birds after the first four races. They still made good yearlings. The welfare of my birds came first winning prizes was a bonus.
