Guest ukseanuk
to me dosn't make any diffrents to what your lofts are made of. its all down to your birds and loft management. mine are made of tree's

Guest ukseanuk
all depend on how people build them ie vents ect

Guest
when i was going to build a new loft i was going to use brick , but then decided to use wood, this was due to the climate in the uk. you would have to have #(in my opinion) a double skin with a cavity, just like you would wuith a house, bricks when wet take a lot longer to dry out comapred to wood, and in the climate we live in this would mean the loft would be more prone to damp conditions, unless you had a cavity. you would also need sky lights so that the sun could warm the loft. hope everyone understands what i mean. Chatrace
If I had the money I would do one in block and brick and have heated cement floors. the heat would keep it dry and warm year around.
Peckedhen
I have one of each. The brick one is cool in summer but damp in winter (single skin), the wood one is hot in summer (but, there again, everywhere was hot this summer) I think that it will be warmer and drier than brick in winter. andyb
ventilation is the main thing. if you can keep it dry and fresh doesn't matter what it is built from
gangster
GOOD POINT ANDY VENTOLATION IS THE KEY WORD HERE I BELIEVE, WOOD OR BRICK ALSO DEPENDS ON FINANCES. 8) 8) 8) 8)

andyb
i f money were no problem i would go for a double decker in brick. bottom floor for stock and storage with the top deck to race to. tiled roof and a large viewing platform. mind you i currently race to 6x 4 shed and do ok but space and money are at a premium
Chatrace
well if bulder say i will make good ventilation either it is of brick or wood and there would be no finance problum then which one u prefer It would be made of block with brick on the outside with heated concrete floors as I said above. Vent fans and lovers can be open or closed as air is needed exchanged. the warm dry loft also helps keep the condition the birds constent
Dave A
i dont think it matters what the loft is made of as long as it has good ventilation and has class pigeons in it

Dave A
twin wall brick or block front and sides, tile roof, and the usuall front wood and dowel, and bigger than needed to accomodate more pigeons than you intend to race to reduce the risk of overcrowding
