Guest Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 When do these sales start? or have they started?
Guest Paulo Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 started theres was one last sat at shotton another two to come with the final one being at blackpool
Guest Paulo Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 didn't go myself but this old bloke at the beaverdam sale said the highest bird was a £1,000 and they all seemed to be going for high prices.
midnight_son Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Shotton averaged £400-500 per pigeon. Several went well into 4 figures and only a couple under £100. Deep pockets required.
Guest Paulo Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 just as well I didn't go to that one and got pissed. Hermans sale was bad enough
Guest Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 It's crazy the prices some will pay at the end of the day alot of these Tony himself would have sold for about £40 as youngsters. Some for sale are youngsters. I have decided I am not gonna pay high prices for prisoners anymore I will bring in a dozen youngbirds of top class fanciers every year to boost the team. Good luck to the ones who want to pay out all that money, though it won't guarantee they will breed the goods. Sometimes you are just buying the name. All that said he does have some top class birds.

Guest Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 on the nail paulo. I have noticed a difference within a week at my ex racer stock birds since I moved the prisoners and opened the loft up. Much better for it. So in future stock brought in will have to race.
Guest Paulo Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Thats what I'm satrting to wish I had done the only stock I have now is dads old birds and its a pain in the backside with a small setup. Going to have to get a shed from somewhere to stick them in before I start racing the young uns as next year plan is to have 30-40 young uns including ones ordered off other fanciers. Seperate the sexes so need a cree with two compartments for that so will have to turf the old birds out of their side into the shed. Pain in the butt at minute as going to take a chance with those beaverdam youngs I bought and let them out to get them settled but at the minute need to seperate the sexes really now its out of season but if do that will have old birds in both compartments that aren't harted so can't let them out. Pain in the butt lol "So in future stock brought in will have to race.'' bet you will notice a huge difference in quality I know you are at a high level already and that a good racer isn't always a good breeder but bet this will still make a huge difference
Beanz Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Anybody what pays over £50 for a 2006 bird at these sales has got a screw loose, that is the price that they charged in their adverts. Only thing is people go mad at auctions thats why they are all held in clubs or pubs so when you have had afew it is easier to get you to part with your money
young man Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 there are three sales left for mardon birds nottingham this week old coms and blackpool
