Was talking to my dad last night and he said we used to have some pigeons of this strain years ago and that they were good distance birds anybody know if they still exist and can tell me more about the strain?

when i used to fly some years ago there was a flyer in cannock called vin shelley.im sure he still fly's now,he is also the scribe in the BHW "vandie vin".he used to race vandeveldes,he did loan me some wen i was a lad they used to do well the farther you went

there is a fancier nr nottingham who has a loft full of them,dont know name,but,impressive results,,,,,found him browsing on internet some months back,,,,sorry cant help more,,,,ted

I have about 12-14 of them we won everything there was to win with them at one time and several guys in our club still fly them  (Darrel Bybee) they put them in futuritys ours came by way of Ben Fichter  he owned " True Grit " one of the most noted American Birds

The tougher the better for these guys they will keep you in average speed when nothing else will come home they dont do well in the rain though

VERY TRUE ABOUT RAIN THING   WE HAD THEM  REAL CRACKERS   THEY COULDNT EVEN MAKE TOP OF LOFT AFTER A BATH      SOME OF THE NICEST FEATHERING ON A BIRD WE EVER HAD    JUST DONT GET THEM WET ;D

still quite few vandies on the go yet, i suppose theyll be like the rest ,,some good,   some bad, i remember an old fancier in blackpool had them for years[ so annoying when the name is on the tip of my tongue] but remember they were the real toughies

The fancier in Blackpool who raced the Vandeveldes with great success was none other than Bert Hession. They originated from Bill Healtley and Albert Crabtree. But there is no such thing as a Vandeveld pigeon anymore the mans been dead for longer than I can remember. Look to the future and make your own family from success not names.

Nah just curious as he used to win with him years ago and was curious to know more about than as Georges Busschaert crossed them in to help create the busschaert strain and a lot of people have them crossed with busschaerts such as Ron Strong the distance man from Hexham.
