mealybar Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 I'm pretty sure that Bubwith is the one and only liberation site at Selby. Thirsk is another airfield or maybe its the racecourse, I cant quite remember. The UNC use Thirsk as a training spot, and a racepoint for the first young bird races for the longer fliers. Selby is used by the rest of the UNC. I cant remember if a site at Grantham has a slightly different name; I'll look on the map when I can find it :B But if you go to http://www.pigeonbasics.com/liberationweather/ there is some kind of description for all of the RPRA racepoints (probably accurate to start of 2006 season). There are pictures of the Selby (Bubwith) site there too if I remember correctly.
Guest Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Tammy Just to add my two penneth here, when we raced in Washington state, we continually had smash races from Ashland Oregon. After we moved to Oregon we visited Ashland and found out why, the release point was in a bowl with mountains surrounding it and it must have been near impossible for the birds to find the right pass out. We reported this to the poeple in Washington and they ceased to liberate from there. What I am trying to say is that personally I think it is important for a delegation from your Federation to visit each release point and check out it's suitability for release before including it on your programme. This covers your backsides in case of disputes in the future.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 I AGREE TOTALLY HERE HYACINTH I THINK THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE INTRODUCED THESE NEW POINTS HAVE NOT GOT THEIR FACTS SPOT ON SO WHAT LOOKED GOOD ON PAPER MAY NOT BE THE CASE IN REALITY,BUT I INTEND TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE OKAY BEFORE WE GO MUCH FARTHER
