aarden Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 what colour would you paint your loft, what do members think of the new dark green colour you can get now that also is used for fences,
Dave A Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 mine at the mo is dark oak but will be lightening it and asing that varnish stuff that you can buy so it looks like the normal loft dolour that you see in the pigeon mags
Tony C Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 aarden, was told by loft builder not to paint inside of loft, let it breath.
square_peg Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 EMULSION INSIDE LOFT WONT STOP WOOD BREATHING GLOSS PAINT IS A DIFFERENT MATTER FENCE PAINT IS WEATHER RESISTANT BUT IT STOPS FENCE WOOD FROM ROTTING SO THINK IT SHOULD BE OKAY FOR DOOKITS ANYTHING WITH A SHINY SURFACE " A SEAL ON THE WOOD" SHOULD NOT BE USED ON THE WALLS AULD REEKIES LOFT "BEST DOO IN EUROPE" HAS MELAMANE FINISH ON MOST WALKED ON DOO SURFACES THO
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 dads stock shed was dark green
aarden Posted October 23, 2006 Author Report Posted October 23, 2006 thanks for your replies,i was refering to the outside of loft not inside
Guest Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 i got mine painted on the outside with red cedar fence paint,i did try a few cheap paints but found cuprinol a better paint....covers a lot better. i usually paint the shed twice a year....inside its painted with white emulsion.
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 interesting thoughts if you seal the outside of the loft with a varnish based colour then you are sealing the timber so it cant breath from the inside so is counter productive a colour based water resistant stain is really the one you need if you are really critical
Guest Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 I think the important thing about outside colour is appearance, it's got to blend in with the other buildings as far as possible. If its wood, always thought green gloss was best, simply because as its the most common background colour ... green fields, green grass, green leaves etc ... it will fit in well with most surroundings.
