Easi-bed is great stuff, but belgium chippings are even better. There £9 / bag at the corn shop I go to, but they last ages and you dont get any dust from them. Shavings tend to be too dusty and blow about all over the place and make a right mess!!!

Especially if some useless git spills a basket of them all over your drive

I MUST HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN AND FOUND NONE OF THEM ARE AS GOOD AS SCRAPING THE FLOORS AND THAT COSTS NOTHING

Thats fair enough - but what about the men who have to go to work and cant clean out every day. Im lucky Ive got lights but I still use the chippings as the loft looks much nicer with them down.

even if you clean out everyday I would still use some form of dressing to dry the droppings up quickly sand is ideal

Actually costs a bomb, Tammy. Same Agri-store for your bale of wood chips will sell you 25kg of agri-lime flour for under a fiver.

Wouldn't recommend sand. Don't think it does a good job, and other than as a dusting, need to rake it every day.

I pad £9 for a 25 kilo bag which I found okay as it lasts for yonks and I have heard arguements for and against lime,  do you use the lime yourself and have you heard of any reasons not to use it  ;D ;D  [ with you  being as old you must have heard discussions on lime ] ;D ;D, is the agri lime the same as de-hydrated lime ?

Well I've used sand for years and so has my dad and we've never had any problems with it. Just to clarify we scarp out twice a day and riddle the sand to remove the droppings.

As for lime it is alkaline which does not kill stuff like samellenoa bacteria so it does not wotk too good. Acid kills samellenoa hence the use of cider vinigar. If you have a shed that you scrape out with damp patches that you then sprinkle a bit of lime on then the bacteria will multiply easy. Proper floor white is different from lime.

Still life and pigeon racing is albout choices and there are many roads to rome.
