Guest Vic Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 Hi Guys, What's your views on controlled loft heaters? Vic.
me Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 "Hi Guys, What's your views on controlled loft heaters? Vic." great for growing tomatoes vic especially if you have lot of glass at the front of your loft and i know the electricity companies are keen on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chatrace Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 They are great if ya gonna breed early, keeps everything dry and frost free.
me Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 "They are great if ya gonna breed early, keeps everything dry and frost free." 100% correct which is why birds don't breed at that time of year! THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If ya want older birds and fly the light system, nothing is normal, even if ya fly dark or widowhood it,'t not natural. I wouldn't run heaters if I didn't expect to gain something : :X
kev01293 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 ive never thought of using loft heaters, my loft is very well ventilated and is kept that way throughout the year and my birds seem to thrive on it-i dont like closed in lofts and like my birds to get as much fresh air as possible, that said i am only a novice with a lot to learn kev ;D ;D
steven booth Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 A lot of fanciers use heaters for show pigeons but during the winter months i would of thought it would be a great idea for racers
Guest shadow Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Personally I would not go to that expense when I have reared good young birds for the past 23years wihout resorting to heatersof any kind
johnny11 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 In Reply to ME "That is why birds dont breed that time of year" on the farm attached to my work place the ferals are breeding early December, make no bones about it, squeaking galore around Christmas time John
Guest Vic Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Hi Guys, I had the heating installed about 20 months ago, and found it beneficial indeed. It was great for quickly getting them back into proper condition if they encountered early cold racing days. I also found that it stopped the majority of minor fretting on the early bred winter y.bs. However, due to pending loft alterations, I will unfortunately have to manage without it. If anyone is interested, I will be putting it on the "items for sale" slot shortly. Vic.
