          Winds blowing a hooley here, trees blown over, rain lashing down and roads closed.

How nice it is to be amongst 20 young widow cocks, cleaning out, with them spinning around your feet, on your shoulders and pecking your ears.  Spring not too far away.

Who needs human company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree - but is it just me or are the birds getting broody a little early this year, mine are normally pretty quiet at this time of year, but they seem to be much louder and broodier than ever atr the moment  :-/

Th seasons have moved a little the wind and rain we are encountering should be autumn, frosy and snow will get here soon and then we're back to spring thank god, daffs, tulips birds nesting and everythings starting again, thank GOD for the wonderful things that cost nothing but brighten up all our lives!!

Our first winter snow has been and gone and the high winds have died down thankfully.  We've had some really vicious cold days, but today seems a little warmer. The mountains have had their fair share of snow, good for the Winter Sports resorts but not for the pigeon flyers, the hawks and falcoms have come down to hunt and are all over the place.

allthough its been very rough here the last few days, i still have roses budding and flowering, and geraniums the same ,,,and so are the pigeons ;D ,,seasons are definately changing

i think most will find in the uk that when the old birds start...for us its in april..weeks prior to it they are now usually still cold and rain about which does ur head in u if u want to train .

i think a lot of loses early on could be where flyers havent had the training and birds not being fit,because of the weather condittions prior to racing.

its not unusual to have snow falling in march now....paul

Agree very much with other posts that there has been a definite shift in the seasons, feels more autumnal here just now than wintery. Last year at this time we were under a foot of snow ...

 

Just to progress it on tho, if we are agreed there is a shift then maybe need to look at when Fed 2007 race programs are due to begin. Our AGM motion is 14th April, two weeks earlier than last two years, when April has been still pretty cold up here.

 

Shouldn't Scottish race programs move back to a May start and perhaps extend a bit later into September, finishing 3rd week or thereabouts? Better weather period?
