Guest CS Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 When do you train your old birds before your first race ?
Guest WINGS 04 Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 will train them from 10 miles 8 times then will train them for the big races later on
Guest speckled Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 2 weeks before the first race craig me, but thay must be flying at least 3/4 hour round the loft first as fitness is the key word for me. if thay are not fit, thay will not have abilatly to train home, but with old birds its a case of getting them race fir then start to motavate them not to soon not to late.well i call it routine , Speck
Tony C Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 No fixed time to start training, when the birds and weathers right I'll start. Have put them into the first race with only one toss behind them, would rather do that than rush them or train in those early east winds.
Guest CS Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Good luck with your breeding season and racing season this year.
Guest Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 i train mine as someone else said..when the weathers ok. say 2-3 weeks b4 racing starts.i start at 10mls for 3 times then into 20mls for as many as i can get in. which is usually about 6-8 times...but i continue throughout season with 2-3 toses each week weather permiting. my birds will sometimes only fly for say 1/2 hr but sometimes will do the hr.i never really pay attention to wot length of time they fly round the cot..unless they are showing me nothing then i push them a bit ...which doesnt happen much. one thing which is a curiosity, when my birds stop wanting to fly round the cot and drive like mad...thats when i know they are gonna score!...my birds will sit and fly onto me...i believe in getting ur birds happy with their surroundings and home life. uve got to make them want to come home!...paul
