Guest Vic Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 What is the best for the nest? Years ago I visited the pine woods around the Birkdale/Ainsdale area. Now I've settled for cut tobacco stalks for the initial part, and a day or so before laying, place an open bag of decent cut straw on the floor and leave it there until just on hatching. Vic.
Tony C Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Not found anything better than tobacco stalks.

Beanz Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Using tobacco stalks and nest felts for the first time this year, always used straw before and never caught any harm but good straw is getting harder to come by hence the change.
