symbro Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 i have a bird i want to keep who is not banded. how do i cut a band to put on the bird?
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 what need would you have to put a split banded ring on as you would not be able to race it you would be better putting a name and address ring on it as a means of identification in case it went missing
Guest CS Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 Better putting a name and address ring on it, Symbro.
Guest Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I agree, a clip-on or coil name & address or telephone ring seems the safest option to me.
Guest shadow Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I agree with the other posts no point putting a split band on a bird you will not be able to race show or transfer the bird with a split ring it will srve no purpose
Pompey Mick Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 A plastic coiled ring is the best option as the RPRA rings will be useless if you cut them because they have a paper insert protected by the plastic covering which will be rendered unreadable very soon after the plastic protection is damaged.
jack walker Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 hi symbro cut through the plastic with a junior axsaw blade be carefull on the last bit i put the ring on a peice of dowl when you have cut through the plastic use a stanley knife to cut through the paper and silver foil ive got a split ring on a 97 bred stock bird flew him out since the day i got him hope this helps cheers jack
