BODY STRUCTURE  What  importance do you place on

                                    body structure

Head    Shape size  is it important or does it depend on

           strain,

type placement of eyes?  Colour size position.

            Beak,  Closed, Open?

Throat Do you use it as a guide to health  what  do you

look for what would you reject ?   Open,  Closed ,

            Curtain complete or worn ?

Chest   Shape , in hand what do you like , death of

            breastbone.

Do you like deep or shallow.?

             vents?  closed or open ?

none really to be honest if were talking about ybs moving over to old bird loft, all i want is prize winners. As they will win in all shapes and sizes but my ideal pigeon is of a medium to small size, one tail feather. I like to see a good throat and a good eye. But these mentioned are not my pointers that decide whether they stay or go the winners and prize winners determines that! PIGEON WIN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES!

Your right there Wiley, I had a Blue Cock that was a massive pigeon and looked really clumbsy, but was well bred and won and scored loads of times. He was the opposite of what I like in a pigeon, but he raced his bollocks off for me. I gave him away to a fancier who was after a busschaert cock and he ended up killing him. When I asked him why he said it was because he didnt like the shape, which I thought was out of order as he never even asked if I wanted him back. The basket is the best decider as far as im concerned.

Agree with posts : the type that can get themselves home in reasonable time and in good shape and theres no real decision to be made because these are the only ones that are usually still there at the end of the season ... selected by Mr Basket.

Yup, that just about sums it up for me. I have to say I have a fair bit of confidence in what's left though.

Sounds like the only way to select good birds to me. Just make your targets harder every year.
