Guest jason Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Do what you want to do, if you like spending time with your birds so be it. My wife moans that I spend too much time with them too (its what pigeon fanciers do!) lol. Jason
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 yes but she says im wasting my child hood and its sad (she means it sad im wasting my child hood)
Guest jason Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 It needn't be too time consuming, I spend a couple of hours in a morning with the birds and a couple of hours in the afternoon, you don't need to be there all the time, Its sometimes better to leave the birds alone through the day, let them rest. Jason
Guest Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 some times mums and dads only think whats good for you y not ask them if they would prefer you to hang about the streets drinking wine smokking and all the other negative things that young people do growing up ,or act sensible like you are with a hobby that keeps you out of harms way .
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 my dad kept birds since 1960 but he passed away 2006 year mate i now live with ma step mum
pigeonscout Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 School work comes first, make pigeon racing your hobby not your life spend an hour in the morning with them before school then an hour after school and all weekend if you like but dont shut away friends and life.

mark Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 next time your mum moans at you give her your scrapper to clean them out, its not wasting your childhood doing a hobby you enjoy.
Lightning McQueen Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 To be honest mate,, you following your dads dream, get your stepmum to spend a bit of time on forum with you - post questions/queries etc, see if we can put her mind at ease? I have played rugby, football, canoeing, absailed, rockclimbed, potholed etc and NOTHING gives the buzz and enjoyment of keeping and racing pigeons. In what other sport can you prepare, breed, nurture, care for, condition, train, race and then hopefully win against thousands of other competitors?? ITS FANTASTIC!! I was the same as you "wasted childhood, virtually lived in the lofts etc", but you will be alright kid..it will all work out in the end..you have to follow your own programme and things will work out naturally, i now have another love in my life, my partner Clare, dtr Mia & son Ben who all share my love of pigeons.
Lightning McQueen Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Hey Billy!! I'll be your friend
Guest Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Ben I am sorry to hear of your recent loss, and being told you are wasting your childhood is something that you can well do without just now. We adults can be right insensitive morons at times. You have shown that you can be successful in what you put your mind to. Be sure that you have other interests, remember you have human friends too so don't neglect them either, and make sure that you are 100% up on your school studies. Chin up, I'm sure this hurt will pass. Good luck.
Guest jason Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Cheers lightning, YIPEE, I got a freind ;D ;D Jason
maverick Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 jusy make sure your school work is done because you dont get a second chance in life to be young and learn, let your parents see you are trying hard , try to get them to help in some way get them intrested in a little way helping fill race sheets anything as a little intrest is better than none and may just help you let them see how much enjoyment can come from this sport of ours.
bazza Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Hope it all works out.It could be alot worse hanging about on the street getting drunk,at least you have a positive interest.Hang in there mate

Jason
pigeonscout Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Get a part time job it will give you something else to do and help pay for the cost of your hobby.
paul l Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 sorry ta hear bout ure dad , you hang in their and do ure birds please dont stop now that would be a waste . yur dad would want u to be happy in what ever u do so what u feel is gd to u u do mate
tubbles Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Tell your mum to buy you a hoodie and a knife and you'll hang around with all your school friends on a corner spitting at passers by. Then we'll see what she thinks is wasting your life. There are choices in life and there are far worse choices than pigeon racing. I'm sure your mum just wants you to mix with people your own age and have their interests but your interest in pigeons is a lot safer than a life hanging out on street corners.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 all sorted now thanks for the replys i do go out alot its just all the effort i put in to the racing/showing side thinks a waste of time to win a few pound
Guest Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 If it's what you enjoy Ben it can't be a waste of time. Do what makes you happy and don't make it into a lot of hard work keep it as a hobby. Like everyone else has said worse things you could be doing, at least they haven't got to look far to find you. Maybe involve a couple of your friends with your hobby they can help with the workload and give you someone to talk to about your interests. Keep your chin up mate. You can't give up either - who will I send those lovely grizzles to?? lol ;D ;D
Guest Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Glad things are sorted Ben, but I hope you will take the good advice that members offered; put the same effort into all the other important things in life, as you do your birds, and I'm sure you'll turn out an all-round class act.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 I WILL NEVER GIVE UP PIGEON DUST IS IN MY BLOOD
