Tony C Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Think you still have to obtain a licence through your local DEFRA.
Guest Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Maybe a bit of confusion here. (1) You don't need a license in your hand sort of thing, its a general license covering 'bird gatherings' up and down the country. Its either permitted or not. Just now it is permitted and if you want to hold a 'bird gathering' you need to follow the general license conditions. (2) What is a bird gathering? A ‘ bird gathering’ for the purposes of the general licence means the birds are collected together from different sources for some purpose, e.g. training, racing, showing, sales. An event involving a single bird or birds which are normally kept together is not classed as a 'gathering'. So if its your own birds, or you are selling birds on behalf of another fancier, you don't need to do anything on the DEFRA front.
