Ian McKay Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Pigeon scout are you quoting from the US system. Gangster I have reassigned rings from one fancier to another
Guest Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Pigeon scout are you quoting from the US system. Gangster I have reassigned rings from one fancier to another Ian, can you confirm if this was a ring : (1) registered by the club base as competing in a race which was still open? OR (2) assigned to another fancier / bird, race closed? I understood that (1) wasn't possible?
t3doo Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Thanks Gangster also do you know if someone gets a stray in can they use he chip ring or is it registered fo use by the purchaser only in ottherwords are people going to start taking rings off other peoples birds sorry for butting in gangster, the truth is that people can take the ets rings off the birds and they can have them registered on their own birds by their secretary, only thing is they can be caught out and if it is found that their secretary knowingly registered the stolen rings then they should be banned from racing pigeons along with the theif and no messing about. cheers.
Chatrace Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 you can redo the bands if you have a club unit. When you do try it will tell you in most cases who the band was assined to and then ask if you want to resign it. once you do it can be reused again without the other owner knowing. A lot of our flyers here are painting there own design on there chips so it is harder to not nitice someone has cleaned them up.
Chatrace Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 here are several rings that will be reasigned from birds I gave away and saved the chip ring
gangster Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 THANKS FOR REPLIES TO ME IT SEEMS LIKE YOUR GONNA NEED A VERY HONEST SEC TO REFUSE TO RE-ASSIGN (STOLEN-RINGS) IT WILL BE A VERY EXPENSIVE LEARNING CURVE FOR EVERYONE ...
Ian McKay Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Hi Bruno It makes no difference if the bird is in race mode or not. I am the club ETS sec so have access to the club database and scanner. Any ring reassigned will come up with the previous owners (in the case of scotland) loft number you just cancel this. I have refused to reassign rings because the wrong loft number came up. I return the rings to the member and ask for written authorisation from the owner, but will all ETS sec / controllers do this ???????? I have had NEW? rings supplied to members with Wales / GB and SU details on them these were rings that were free and came from the Official ETS supplier???????
gangster Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 WHILST SAT THINKING ..CAN THE CHIP RING BE ENGRAVED WITH OWNERS TELE NUMBER AS THIS WOULD HELP STOP RE-USE BY THIRD PARTYS...JUST A THOUGHT.......
Ian McKay Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Hi Gangster Were you at Blackpool and saw the clip rings being engraved. If this could be done you may have hit on a Brilliant idea But the time will come when all SHU rings should have a chip included. You would order chip SHU ring or plain Before anyone JUMPS down my throat I am NOT suggesting all SHU rings will have this and non ETS will be forced to puschase them
gangster Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 NO BUT YOU ARE RIGHT IAN BECAUSE TO ME AND OTHERS COSTS ARE A BIG ISSUE ESPECIALLY WITH 2 YOUNGSTERS DEMANDING MY HARD EARNED ALL THE TIME................I WILL BE ENGRAVING ALL MINE IF I DECIDE TO USE THE SYSTEM..........
gangster Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 WHILST IVE GOT IT FRESH IN MY MIND IM GONNA PHONE A FEW ETS COMPANYS AND ASK WILL REPORT BACK SOON....
Ian McKay Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Hi Gangster I fully understand what you say. I wonder how we get hold of the people that were doing the engraving because I would go for it as well. If you find out please let me know. You are a little GENIUS BET THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU HAVE BEEN CLASSED IN THAT CATEGORY
gangster Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D only the little bit ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
gangster Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 well ive just spoken to smisdom plastics who were at blackpool and do the engraved rings...quote yes you can engrave chip rings with tele number....anyone can verify this..0032-11683409...fax 0032-11671113....www.e-zmarker.com/
Guest Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Thanks for the info, Ian. Think we should lock the Secy and club system in bank vault; ;D Hope the ETS ring is just an interim stage, and Union ID Chip ring is just round the corner. In my mind solves a number of problems (1) no more removed removable rings and (2) cuts down on jewelry bird has to carry Next question: (Ian) you say two types of ID ring one with a chip, the other without? Wonder how we tell the difference just by looking at them? and would the difference in costs between them really be that big?
gangster Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Just hope if your bird happens to go in anywhere they arent anti ets otherwise your going find a few coming back minus there ets rings Not sure if im right but i was told in some countries you still have to use a standard clock as well as the ets is there any particular reason for this security i believe they were talking about it at the weekend
Ian McKay Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Hi Bruno 1 & 2 are correct. I am only looking at the price of ETS £1.20 / £1.10 Shu ring 20p. Difference of approx £1 you cannot expect non ETS to pay this for non chipped rings
Ian McKay Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Hi Bruno did not answer one point. You can tell by looking at the Chipped ring
GREENGRASS Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 at the tipes demonstration on wednesday we were told the tipes rings when assigned take your loft number and that stays with the ring so nobody else can use it, you can swap the ring between birds in your loft but not to another loft. so if a fancier turned up at a marking night and presented a ring which he had removed from a stray etc it would show up.
Chatrace Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 you have to have the snapon chip ring so you can put it on the birds as they get older and not loose them before the birds are returning to the loft. the new imbeded chips in the life ring would be nice, but if the chip goes bad you will still need the snapon band so the birds can still race.As far as using both types of clocks ,we here have to use the rubbers yet for some Specials who are not set up to take ETS clocks. Sometimes we take our club unit to them so we canuse the ETS .
