Guest CS Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 No, didn't buy any of the old stock birds off louella pigeon world... rather have yearlings to 6 years old to buy for stock....
mac1 Posted March 17, 2007 Author Report Posted March 17, 2007 i know that mate but i was looking for some diffrent blood and for the price its worth a chance,if i was buying stock birds they wouldnt be as old as them,i just thought i would ask
Guest CS Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Mac, maybe because of the cold weather in north east of England, try and breed them in the summer time, Mac.. ~Good Luck~
Guest Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Yes bought two at Maerdy, the one is no more, laid soft eggs and the other is rearing second round, both 96 hens I think!! However last year we went to louella's on a sunday and bought 4 @£35 but these were younger pigeons 4/5 year olds, we killed the cock (only realy because we were overstocked) and the other three all bred yb that survived the season and one topped the WECA 1300+ birds. The mother of that one is a wildy and we think she will breed many winners, aslo had a Jan aarden, that bred a yb that came back ripped to pieces by Percy didn't think she'd survive but she ended up going to our logest YB race 160 mile I think!? Unfortunately the away sales saw a lot of very old pigeons at least Maerdy did. When we bought those 4 we looked at around 200 birds and the Wildy was the one that stood out for us and has hopefully started to prove our judgement. But the majority in our opinion were very poor. We believe there are some bargains to be picked up at these sales though.
ACE LOFTS Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 i think if i was to buy old stock birds from louella i would only buy a cock and stay away from the hens.
