Guest CS Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Many have said that the birds that take the top row of perches in a loft are the dominant birds and therefore the assumption is made that they are the better racers. Have any of you checked this? And do you think this "theory" hold any water?
crazy pigeon boy Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 i dont think it matters where a bird perches they all have the ability to race well with the right management
Ronnie Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 could be used for extra motivation i suppose.
peterpau Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 agree they are dominant but definately does not make them the best racers in my experience Only means they are the dominant bird nothing else.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 IT IS JUST BECAUSE ALL PIGEONS LIKE TO ROOST AS HIGH AS POSIBLE
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 my best birds always been middle perching after you saying that mate all the stock birds that have done a lot of winning are in the middle nest boxes
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 like my delbar thats flown dax 3 times and my red cock that had loads of cards best being 11th out of 4500+ and now hes breeding some good young birds
Guest Bonzo Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I FIND THAT MOST OF MY BEST BIRD ARE ON THE BOTTOM PERCHES BUT 1 OF MY BEST COCK BIRDS LAST YEAR DID NOT HAVE A PERCH ALL HE WOULD SIT ON THE FLOOR. BUT HE WOULD NOT LET ANY OTHER BIRDS ON THE FLOOR WITH HIM
Guest CS Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 It makes no difference with my birds, some of my birds do fight for the top perches.
Lightning McQueen Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Our best birds have mainly been the ones taking the bottom Widowhood boxes.. Normally more dominant because they take/guard the floor as well.
