PIGEON_MAN Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Caught a bit of the MNFC sale at the Bescot Stadium last Saturday would you believe one youngster fetched £750.
paddymac Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Ridiculous amount of money to pay for any yb, not a bit wonder the HOBBY is in the decline it is in trying to attract new younger members. Its no longer a enjoyable past-time with all the money involved these days.

Guest CS Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Caught a bit of the MNFC sale at the Bescot Stadium last Saturday would you believe one youngster fetched £750. who is the fancier bred and who bought???. Crazy money...
gangster Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 i did see the y/bs but nothing stood out only the pedigree on 1 galaxy bred by chocolateman..... ;D ;D ;D
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 the sale what i went two nothing made over £25 and there was some belter i picked up a bob bilitho bird for a £10
Guest Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 i believe fanciers(on the average) are less better off these days to be paying out the money some fanciers want for shall we say.. not top grade birds... that ud get for far cheaper in days gone by.look at the likes of any vandenabelee bred bird because of the success(well earned) of m+d evans..they sell for big money from any fancier that tends to have them for sale. cost has to be a major problem for any new fancier starting up these days.with a cot /clock/baskets..uve already spent out around a grand b4 u start looking for birds to fill the cot. if it wasnt for very generous fanciers giving gift birds,... then those that would like to start have no hope. i myself after a very stressing time last year has had to start all over again and because of some fanciers who im eternally grateful too i wouldnt have that start i now have!. a few sales i have been too have been great for new starters to grab some real good birds at give away prices but some are just too much to buy with a workingmans wage. not mentioning a kid wanting to start up..£750 is a huge amount to pay ....way out of my league lol. i think louella,s prices are good and ive on the few occasions ive bought them ...had fairly good birds from there.....paul
gangster Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 YES YOUR RIGHT IF IT WAS NOT FOR SOME GOOD FANCIERS ALOT OF KIDS COULD NOT START....ALSO BECAUSE SOME FANCIERS WANT TO WIN THE BB BIRDS THEY PUSH PRICES UP SO THERES MORE CASH.......
Guest shadow Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 some people have more money than sense I know a fancier who payed £1,000 for a young bird then sent it in one of the national races because it had done well inland and has never seen the bird again.
stantheman Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Galaxy lofts bred the pigeon that sold for £750 at Bescot and I know who bought it and they have been winning everything round our way.and have lots of pigeons from galaxy :)
PIGEON_MAN Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 i did see the y/bs but nothing stood out only the pedigree on 1 galaxy bred by chocolateman..... ;D ;D ;D Cant really remember who bought the bird but i think you may be right in saying it was the above bird,to me far to many people by pigeons on pedigrees,Gangster was that you at walsall with the Celtic on,was going to say hello but wasn,t sure.

stantheman Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 It was definitly the galaxy loft pigeon that fetched £750 I know this for certain as it was me that bought the pigeon on behalf of someone else, I bid for it as they knew it would be run up if they were there and how right they were! wont reveal who they are as that would not be fair
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 yesi would rather have tried and tested birds than pedigree birds
