I think the longer they stay down (out of the sky) the better, they'll start flying when you cut the corn down (to get them under control).

In other words... THERE IS NO RUSH!! ;) ;D ;)

fluttering about doing a few half circles then down, all flying in different directions, not coming down when i want them as there getting as much as they want as there still growing(can't wait to cut food down), young birds who'd have them? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

1st round flying 45 mins or so unforced with old birds - now on darkness so will slow down - cant believe the amount of small feathers not having done it before

a few flying about the others flying from cabin roff down into loft trapping not bothered as all these short flights harden the muscles

mine just flying on to loft roof, and bathing most days ;D ;D lazy little fat buggers ;D, all will change when i get back of hols, darkness and more barley ;)

Ours just walking about the staging atthe min, only been out about 4 times , funny little things, looking at a balckbird soft lol, then looking up at seagulls etc. used to have the youngsters going through the stall trap, but found now with open doors they are far more relaxed i sit with them on the staging. then you always get one who will want to fly on your head etc.

Have weaned 3,another 2 tomorrow.Just been in and cleaned out and 2 oldest wre up on perches,couldn't get down!,don't know how long they had been there but they were sure ready for some lunch when I lifted them down![embarrassing]

I think they would have been able to come down, only maybe a little nervous about coming to ground, no need to be embarrased. Ive moved youngsters from the nest before now, and 'woosh' up they go to the top perch. you have done the correct thing in moving them to the floor. this year there was just one youngster that wouldnt come to the floor to eat with the others but after bringing him/her down and with a bit of coaxing it soon realised what eating was all about!!

nightmare.

                sitting on top of loft hawk has had ago at them 3 days in a row father in law at his wits end, kept them in today.

my first round of 20  that i bought in are flying for around 15 to 20 mins, the 25 that ive bred myself are just flying to the top of the loft. i'm doing a lot of pacing  :)
