On Monday night when i was at the club to take delivery of the transporter baskets , we were given a brand new one , never had one all last season, and when i was putting them on the trailor I noticed that the new basket was a couple of inches shorter than the old ones, was dumbfounded when i saw this , now that will mean that the new baskets when loaded on will all have to be pushed in so the birds can reach the water drinkers and then pulled back out again for the liberation of the birds, obviously these baskets were used last season , so were the baskets pushed in and pulled out again ? I did bring this to the attention of the federation president and he was unaware of this problem as apparently his club were never given a new basket last season as well, so what clubs did use these baskets last year, every one of these baskets should be scrapped and ones the correct size brought in, another problem is these baskets must shake about more than any of the other ones as there is a couple inches of a difference, why did the clubs who were using these baskets last year not complain about them, dont think we will be accepting any more of them, unless thats the only choice.

If the basket was not pushed back to the front when the strings were cut in readyness for a lib could a pigeon escape through the gap where the flap is?

well i would guess there will be a gap of about 3 inches when the flap falls open , the gap will obviously be wider than this at the top as the bar is in the middle of the gate, so if it is three inches in the middle !!, would think it unlikely a bird would come out , but would not say it could not, this was something i had not considered Tony,

the basket would have to be pulled forward to attach the ring/strap to the bar to pull the flap down and if was not attached i would think you have two chances either it will stay shut or fall open itself depending if the flap was loose or stiff but i think a good convoyer checks and double checks before a lib because if only one basket is still tied that whole tier wont go thats why its so important to tie the baskets correctly

the same thing can happen when joint convoying tammy its very important to check that the baskets are compatible especialy the hight of the drinkers half an inch will make all the differance (to low/or drinker spliting the space to let the bird get its head out both very bad for the birds if they are in the basket for any time )
