Not knocking you or the old guy, Me. Was brought up that I'd to look after me stuff, and if climbing over ye ol' barby fence, I ripped the ass out of me new school troosers, well went to school next day with me ass hanging out of me troosers - and for a few days after that too until I learned to sew wiv a needle & fred. And didn't get a new pair until it was my turn again.

 

Thing that perhaps you and others have missed about grants is that the equipment bought with them belongs to the club, and the chappy wot signed the application is held personally responsible for it, including maintaining it. Going back to the programme, I'd think twice & more before giving that guy anything.

Same remark from specatators at Scotlands One Loft Race a few years back, where I think the birds are usually brought in with a bell.  

 

Seems on race days the birds have to go in without any encouragement at all - no corn rattle, no whistle, no calling, no nothing - to ensure no favour shown to any particular bird(s) at drop.

Nothing to do with a winning loft, flashharrywivloadsamoney, or living as you see fit: my post was on the suggestion that clubs could put Lottery money to better use and replace the run down loft in the film:

 

That loft became run down because it hadn't been looked after for donkeys years, so who was going to look after the new one? The guy in the film?  Based on what I saw, I don't think so, so I'd think twice about giving it to him, one bacause he won't appreciate it or look after it and two because some new start would give their eye teeth for one, and would treat it like a million dollar loft.
