shweet Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 Did any one on hear go to the open evening of the racing pigeon breeding and racing course thats starting at the Forest Art Centre? I want to congratulate everyone involved and think its a great idea for bringing new novices into a great sport that needs a lot more good publicity.
pjc Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 it was promoted on here but I can't remember seeing any reports after the event as to its success!
Guest Owen Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 Is this the Course that is being held in the Midlands? I think the lady involved is a Mrs Minchin. I think it is something that could be done all over the place. I have attended 4 differant microsopy courses and have found great benefit from the information I have accumulated. I am sure there is scope for a lot more, including an introductory course for people who are just starting or thinking of having a go. I would be interested to hear what sort of things would be of use to Fanciers new and old.
shweet Posted November 2, 2009 Author Report Posted November 2, 2009 There was quite a few people that turned up, a lot of them experienced fanciers. I think it went quite well, I enjoyed it. It was a free take off event so we will see how many novices turn up for the course which is £20 for 5 weeks. Im gonna go myself !
shweet Posted November 2, 2009 Author Report Posted November 2, 2009 Yes Owen thats the one, its the Forest Art Centre, Hawbush Rd, Leamore, WS3 1AG. It starts propely at 7.00pm on Thursday November 12th.
Guest Owen Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 shweet I hope it is not asking too much, but could you keep me informed as to how it goes. If it were nearer I would love to attend. I have been thinking about putting together a series of modules on pigeon related subjects for the people in this area (Pontypool).
shweet Posted November 2, 2009 Author Report Posted November 2, 2009 Yeah Ill defo keep you posted. I personaly think myself that this is a very good idea to keep the sport alive. The problem now is that the old fliers are dying off and there isnt enough younger people starting in the sport to replace them, no offence to anyone ! I think more good publicity and more of these courses across the country might be what we need to convince people that there is more to the birds than just being rats with wings. Ive got mates that ive known for years and I know that if they started they would be hooked but I cant get them past the thought that people who keep pigeons are sad individuals, lol.
