I WOULD SAY A COUPLE OF WEEKS IS ENOUGH, AND YES THEY CAN FLY ONE I HAD FLEW 4 MILES

yh they can i guy down the road with a dovecote had a load of white doves and one big fantail cock and they all use to fly away at night and come back for food in the morning and he was bigger than my fantails :)

2 weeks is plenty ...get them out in the flight cage ect to see the surroundings and you should be fine

My first garden doves that i put in the dovecote under a net, still flew off after a month not to be seen again, Dont know if keeping them in a loft would be different.
