Old Yellow prompted me to put up some pics of the birds so here ye are.

These are all birds I bred in 2009 having aquired some old birds in 2008 after a long search and thanks to Dode on this site who gave me a contact in Dundee.

Couple of the old birds with my favourite hen in foreground, not for her colour but she is a wee character and very friendly and her youngsters are the same. Her young are the yellows and 1 ochre in the Photo's.

very nice looking birds m8 wat they like in the air?

Cheers. More a flying breed than a tumbler so far they have sort of done it all apart from tumble, He He. They fly in a tight kit like the racer but they will fly single or pairs as well. Longest they've been up is just over the hour maybe a couple hundred feet and ranging half a mile in all directions. Sometimes they fly low, VERY low and seem to enjoy playing chiken with the fences and buildings and are very agile. They are said to have been bred for flying against falconers birds and this is what attracted me to them. Here is a link to a roller guy that swares by them against the hawks, have a look. http://www.cichlidlovers.com/birds_cats_bill_hart.htm

and another of interest http://www.cichlidlovers.com/birds_cats_by_bodio.htm

I'm still a novice with these birds as well and the parents had never been out so it's a bit unfair to say just what they really are capable off. They are same size as a roller but more upright stance and stouter beak/wattle. They are like a mini racer to me but I'm sure the racing guys will disagree. Thanks again lads.

I have never seen this type of bird before. Do they fly? They look very attractive, but I do not recognise the colour descriptions you use. Are these colour names just for this breed or are they used for all of the fancy breeds?

Cracking birds, how do they perform in the air?

Do you know Robbie Glen by the way, NLB in Oban.

Thanks Ally. No don't know him. It's around 5 years since I been to oban ( used to be there every year but on the guide job now, in fact I'm workin now, He He! ) he must be fairly recent to the job. He's not a Technician or I would know the name as they report in here when they visit a light. Cheers mate.

I have just read the attachments by Freebird. They are wonderful little birds by what the Guy on there has said. When he said Hawks did he mean Falcons and Hawks or just Hawks?

Yes owen very fast and tricky sometimes. The bronze and ochre descriptions are for this particular breed ( with a wordrobe of a thousand colours ) so the Spanish say. They come in all known patters, mine being cap de frere ( white caps ) and all known colours. I mixed my colours when breeding to try and mix the blood so to speak but they still come out the parent colours and some unusual as well"Pink" He He! Cheers.

Thanks Rab, that means a lot after seeing some of your team the last couple of nights. I'm not intersested in showing them, I'm more into the flying and not the looks although I like to see a bit of colour too. It's early days for me and the birds but I hope to get them as fit as the racer and out with the hawks, then we'll make judgement hopefully on the doo's side. Thanks again and lets see more opf yours Rab.

Don't know Owen but I intend finding out in reality. Only had one hawk this year so far and I was in the loft, birds out when the old birds came in fast from the wee aviary. By the time I got out the youngsters were high up and scattered and I could only count 13 out of 14. Had a look around the area, nothing. When they eventually came down 14 so I gather one was being chased at the time I counted but I can not confirm this as I did not see any hawk. They were spooky next day and whilst flying normally a wood pigeon came out over a tree sudenly and the birds dropped a gear excelerated and split and I actually seen one do a 180 degree turn lightning fast to fly in the opposite direction which seemed impossible and I was well impressed. Cheers.
