nestboxes what size should they be ??

 

my joiner is going to put me as many nest boxes in ma new loft as possible, bearing in mind i only want a simple set up for my few birds that are just pets.... what are the minimum requirements and do i need a ledge to stop chicks falling out ?? etc ..

 

any pics would be really helpful  :)

 

sorry im asking so many questions but i want to get it right at this stage  :)

It might be a good idea to check out some nest box fronts sure it would help. Look on www.everythingforpets.com However some of the happiest looking birds I ever saw were in 25ltr drums with the tops cut off just stacked on top of one another Pigeons like space, with a corner they can defend. Nest bowls are good too

Can rember being told of a fancier who used to get the old crisp box's from

his local shop / pub.   He stacked them up and the birds loved them.

when he had finished with them he just took them out and burnt them.
