Joined: 14 Oct 2006 Posts: 47 Location: bristol the trouble is the chimney is not straight all the way down it slope`s off twice so you can just see him through a gap about 6"x8" wide.so i can`t bring him straight up coz of the way the chimney staggers.
Pompey Mick Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 I've rescued at least two of my own pigeons from chimneys by nailing a short piece of batten to a longer length to form a perch and feeding it down the chimney from above to get the pigeon to hop on. Whether this will work in your case I'm not sure.

Guest Hjaltland Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Well done kev.. seen this before too, a fellow fancier had a pigeon down a disused chimney, and he had to take out via a removed brick. What a state, it had been in there for over a week. Surprised it survived.
Guest Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 well done kev, im glad you got him, let us know how he gets on, ....amanda ;D
Peckedhen Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 When I rescued mine from the chimney it was absolutely covered in soot. I thought that if left to preen it might well injest it and become ill so I gave it a bath in warm water and fairy liquid. I've watched them clean oil covered bird this way so I gave it a jolly good rub then rinsed it well in warm water. Afterwards I thought that I'd finished it off! It couldn't stand and kept falling onto it's front but, once it dried it was fine. I fed light food for a few days then gave peas and beans. It made a full recovery.
