BOKO Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I'm hoping to keep pigeons at the top of the garden with a view to racing them in partnership with my 4yr. old g/son later,do I need permission from my council or anyone? It's my own house and the loft would be at least 35ft. away from any part of any house. :-/
Guest shadow Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 It would be advisable to ask the neighbours if they object and check the deeds of your property to see if there are any covenants which stop you keeping poultry etc and ask the council as it could lead to problems if you do not it only takes one or two people to start complaining and stop you from keeping them, I had problems s few years ago and had to enlist the help of a soliciter to sort it out, good luck and welcome to the sport.
BOKO Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Posted April 17, 2006 Thanks a lot Shadow,it would be nice not to have any neighbours at times, although I think one one them would like to help,he's a pensioner
bewted Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 hi boko,if the pensioner wants to get involved to help, thats a real good start, good luck and keep us informed of progress,i am sure all on pigeonbasics would take an interest, ted

BOKO Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 Thank you,Thank you,Thank you everybody.Just goes to show if every body were like pigeon people the world would be a much better place! I haven't had a reply from the council yet so I'll not bother asking the neighbours yet.Any body have an idea how many you have to ask?
Guest Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Boko When you do eventually start flying, provided the neighbours are no problem, invite them round on race day to see the birds come home, a few drinks, pop and snacks makes good public relations
BOKO Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 cracking idea Hyacinth,I'd never have thought of that.
westy Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 yes linda good idea will try that with a few locals

I was advised to ask any neighbour where their garden joins onto yours. so that would be either side and the ones out the back
