Wiley Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 not being funny Westy but times running out forn this year, many colleges books are now closed, so i think you'd find it very hard to enrol to a college now! However get down to your local connexions and they will tell ya a few decent websites, on how and where to get an apprenticiship with. Your best chance i'd feel is if you know a family friend or a local buisness in your area, that deals with carpentary and see if they are taking on apprenticiships, as i know most of the colleges books are now closed, you may find the one or two exceptions. But i also know that with the apprenticeships you have to be quick of the mark as i know with a few of my friends, they had to apply for apprentiships way before gcse results came out and had to put down there predicted grades. However all the best and hope your successful in ur search
Guest Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Sorry to hear you are having probs finding an apprenticeship. Maybe have to travel a bit further than you first reckoned? Try a search 'modern apprenticeship' in your local area, might come up with something similar to this:- http://www.covcollege.ac.uk/courses/category/additional/modern_apprenticeships/apps_construction.php Good luck in your search.
westy Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 thanks ryan and bruno im going to look in the yellow pages and phone around a few places.
Fair Play Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Get down to your local industrial estates knock on doors letters sometimes find there way to the dustbin the personal approach sometimes works. Please don't go with a hoodie or a tracksuit look the part, take it from an ex apprentice whose trade took him half way around the world. :)
