thunderboult Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 pau is 599 mls to me in south wales and i'd send
Guest Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 I think this is going a bit offline , it is around £13 per bird for Pau int but i was talking about a UK national race nothing to do with continentals surely the cost would not be any where near that amount its only £1.75 a bird in the BICC national i dont know what other specialist/national clubs charge & it doesnt have to be Pau that was an example it could happen if the stick in the muds of this sport would let it also if you belong to say for arguements sake the National BBC BICC and say another local classic club you could send 1 bird to compete in all these clubs & the overall UK National obviously you would have to nom in each club and pay for each (if this is how it works) some people pay carriage to get birds sent to marking station with this the bird could be marked at any designated station So come on you lot that have got clout get your finger out
thunderboult Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 hi rose i've only been flying since 2004 but starting to get a team together now for the longer races i sent with the bbc this year and enjoyed it ,thinking of maybe joining the bicc+nfc next year and having a go at some more of the longer races ,got 1 from palamos(753mls) this year but out of race time i was chuffed and gutted at the same time but enjoyed it and am looking forward to trying again next year
Guest Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 we went to palamos (1043 mls) with the bbc (scottish 1,000 club) 1979/80.
frank-123 Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 we went to palamos (1043 mls) with the bbc (scottish 1,000 club) 1979/80. and timed twice is that correct george
Guest Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Picked up from Chris Little's post that the distance into Scottish Borders would be 800 miles so north of Scotland would be 900+. Would these distances not be classed as marathons rather than long distance, and would an entirely different type of pigeon be required to compete successfully in them?
Guest Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 we went to palamos (1043 mls) with the bbc (scottish 1,000 club) 1979/80. how long did it take did you go yourself or with someone as you said we ,who was it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Back garden fancier Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 What I was suggesting was a complete overhall. ALL specialist clubs would be disbanded and there would only be 1 UK club. it would have 2 different races a week to take into account the differing distances. That would be it! No MNFC / BICC /CSCFC / MCC / NFC, No nothing just a UK national. But will never happen. Someone always breaks away to form a club they think they can win.
mickmcgrevy Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 The only way you will get close to what is being sugested is by the bigger national / classic clubs organising there races from the same race point on the same day and liberating at the same time. Then allowing duplication into whichever clubs you happen to be a member of. This wouldn't take a lot of organising, you just need to get committees to agree to have a go, I think it is a great idea. Rose, I will be joining the BICC next year, even though it is 100 miles to basket. With regard to distance, Pau is 704 miles to me Rotherham South Yorks Palamos 828, and Pau will be 800 up to Sunderland, so you may be able to work a distance out from that
thunderboult Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 each organisation could have thier own sepperate result like they did with the dax international a couple of years ago using their own wagons and marking stations it would'nt be that hard to do even if they kept the results sepperate it would still give fancier's the massive birdage to race against
thunderboult Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 there must be computer programes were they could download each organisations results and produce 1 result
thunderboult Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 they seem to do it quick enough in the internationals
sj irving jnr Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 we have a uk national now,the nfc has section m for scotland
square_peg Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 we have a uk national now,the nfc has section m for scotland MMMM NOT YET FOR ALL OF SCOTLAND ANYWAY
mickmcgrevy Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 As far as I am aware section M covers all Scotland there were no boundaries put on when the new section was made
square_peg Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 As far as I am aware section M covers all Scotland there were no boundaries put on when the new section was made THE SAME WHEN THE SNFC WAS FORMED ,BUT, YOU FLY UNDER RULES THAT THE RACE ORGANISIERS LAY DOWN DONT YOU
mickmcgrevy Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 yes you fly under the rules of the NFC, and RPRA
pender Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 All you do is join the rpra and the english nat club then no matter where in scotland you are you can compete so open to whole of scotland peg.
Back garden fancier Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Wasn't there a "Uk national" race for the Queens Jubilee or something maybe 10 years ago ish? Think it was from Nantes but was a disaster due to weather?
wayne77 Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 RPRA centenary race mate from Nantes in 1997 was bad one but not reason to not try again. Think too many transportrs and convoyers for that one.
Guest Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Wasn't that the race that it was reckoned the birds got caught up in a Concorde's sonic boom as it went into Mach 1 over the Channel / Irish Sea?
Guest Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Think the proposal as it stands wouldn't get off the ground due to politics involved. But there is nothing to stop the various classic clubs getting together to organise one or two joint races in the year where the Open Section is Open UK.
