just thinking here we have fed motors passing each other on the road north and south pigeons

just thought of an idea to save on the transport cost's

say fed A were going to maidstone and fed B were going to fraserburgh would it not make sense to share two trailers the one going to maidstone leaves the trailer in the south and the trailer in the north parks its trailer in the north

which leaves two units free to go back home empty or full if they could get a load to take them home

has this been tried before or is it a non starter

I agree with you Bart that there is a lot could be done to bring transport costs down. Have posted before about closer co-operation between N and S road feds, where if they agree to share alternate Sat / Sun for racing, they could maybe get it down to only one transporter, and 2 sets of baskets.

On your own post, even simple matter of drivers & convoyers changing over 'mid way' on the road, Scottish guys bringing English transporter up & liberating birds here, then transporter & baskets back to Scottish base for delivering baskets to clubs for cleaning & loading up to go back south following week. Save quite a bit in diesel costs in both lorries, and all the guys should get back home a lot earlier on the Saturday.

i agree with you bart ,, maybe take a little working out , but could be done,,  just on a point of transporters ,, a few years ago 3 transporters all a lot  less than half full sitting at ripon ,, all pigeons flying into the same area [maybe thats what they call bussiness sense ;D i call it nonsense ;D]
