Guest beautyhomer Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 I think you might mean "yellows?" Been posts on this colour before. Lemons are an extreme dilute blue Yellows are dilute reds Therefore they have nothing in common genetically although they do look similar
wayne77 Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 My avator is what I call a yellow. Will take look at website cheers Ronnie
Guest shadow Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 My avator is what I call a yellow. Will take look at website cheers Ronnie nothing like a true yellow
Guest beautyhomer Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 nothing like a true yellow why don't you put up a picture of what you call a yellow instead of dismissing yellow checkers as not true yellows all the time!!!!
Guest shadow Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 I will when I unpack the box they are in having just moved house and not in the best of health it takes time
wayne77 Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 nothing like a true yellow Ok mate just what I have always been told thats what yellow is. Not that colour matters important what happens in basket but an interesting aspect. Think Louella yellows are similar to the picture.

Guest beautyhomer Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Beutyhomer you are a wealth of information Now what colours would i need to breed myself a pair? i have a nice blue cock who looks more like a silver maybe him with a pale blue hen? You would have to get hold of a extreme dilute (lemon) in the first place. You cannot make the gene only replicate it.If you pair a lemon hen to your blue cock all the young cocks will be blue but carrying the extreme dilute gene. When paired back to the lemon hen 50% of the young produced will be lemons

Beutyhomer thanks again i really do appreciate the information.
Guest CS Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Jack Barkel's former panthership from the U.S used to keep the lemon strain from Jack Barkel but Charlie who keeps the breeding station finished now, sold the lots... very nice looking birds...

Back garden fancier Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Remember a bloke having some "Victor Lemons" back in the mid 90's, they were advertised as "the fastest racing pigeons in the world." Certainly looked the part. He was Belg/Dutch despite the name, does anyone remember them?

These were Janssen based birds if i remember rightly, but i don't recall there being any lemon or yellows in the family.

These are of the old Dr. Rigg Barker bloodlines and are intermingled with the Silvers of the same family. We do not have any of my uncle Jacks lemon family. If fanciers are interested in my uncle Jacks lemon's, pm him and he'll assist you as best he can. He is a member of this site.
blackjack Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 David has a fine yellow bar hen its former owner said and i quote nobody will get her till they screw the nuts down .The silvers are also top notch yellow bars are common in Croston Barkers Meesrs Edmondson ,Baldwin and the Martland bros for had them and they flew well the Doctor also had them through Dick Baldwin. They are just not pretty pigeons belive me.
DOVEScot Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 I was told this was classed as a yellow but looks more like a red This is two of it's young paired to a spangle
