i think if the guy lost the yb off the loft as a baby, he wouldnt be able to trust it again as it would return to you, i wouldnt blame the pigeon in this circumstance ,,,,, but if  the bird was lost  in a race after being trained and it couldnt return to its old loft in my opinion the bird would be worth nothing and not worth putting for stock,,, whereas alfs did work its way back and probably learned a lot of experience in doing so :)
