Hi ali, do you give them black minerals? It has been brought to my attention recently that there may be salt in black minerals.

How do you know they are craving salt?

Try the pick pots with the red crumb like mineral inside approx. 80p ea. The clay pots come in handy afterwards for putting tit bits in inside your nest boxes and encourage the youngsters to pick up corn early.

i use a cow lick for my birds they love it  ;D

yes back in the 60s we used to go to the cows fields and get the lumps of salt hanging on the fence for the cows to lick, used to be brown, i believe this was pure salt before being washed etc,

Came across the 'horsey' equivalent at my local supplier: today's 'lick' seems to be a lot more than salt, it is a mineral & vitamin supplement.

cow lick Block was developed in response to the needs of the livestock farmer. Extra high levels of selenium and cobalt help combat the country's widespread deficiency in these essential trace elements. Selenium is required for healthy muscles. Cattle Block also contains additional copper.

salt in pigeons is ok, as long as there is a balance and they dont eat to much,, buy some rehydration salts, give for for 3 days and leave powder minerals in front of them, balance will almost then be restored.
