How can birds can go in that smallest lofts ? Homer

Posted

i dont race to it or anything like that but as long as the birds get plenty of exercise (and its cleaned out regularly) they are happy as larry.

a couple of years ago i had 2 nest boxes in there and bred from 2 pairs and this year it housed a single pair of show kings that reared 4 youngerns over 3 rounds. i have also had 'v' perches insted of nestboxes in there and kept up to 6 hens inside without any problems. its also handy for weaning youngsters or quarantining sick birds.

below is an older photo of when the side was open wire and 4 'v' perchest were on the back wall.

its only four standard 6 x 3  aviary panels and a felt covered 3 x 3 slightly  slanting roof.

its dead simple, although i didnt make the actual panels i converted it from a bigger more traditional aviary.
