Guest Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 what would be the best vitamins to put with the corn after treating them for canker or any other medication whenever treating for any infections always treat afterwards with a multi vitamin. any medication for infections, takes away good gut bacteria as well as the normal bad bacteria. always remember to take away all minerals and grit from the birds whenever treating, as these can afect the strength of the medication and prolong the treatment time....add vitamins to the water its easier...hope this helps.. paul.
jimmy white Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 there are many multivits for sale by different names makers etc,,most contain the same roughly, but if you ever run short try a few drops of baby vit drops in the water is as good

I never knew to move the minerals and grit out when treating, does that mean we've waisted oor time in treating them and do we have to do it all again?
Guest Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 what would be the best vitamins to put with the corn after treating them for canker or any other medication I think most fanciers use a multivitamin as part of their weekly routine? Would say its down to what you can get your hands on, if your local supplier stocks a pigeon multivitamin that can be put on the corn, I would tend to stick with that.

Reckon if there's no mention of removing minerals or grit in your treatment leaflet instructions, you've nothing to worry about.

I've seen this advice before, Paul and I think it may be mistaken. Vitamins are 'foodstuffs' and depend upon a fully functioning digestive system. Good gut bacteria help in digestion, and if an antibiotic medication has reduced them, the first job is to get these levels back to normal so that the digestive system is back to normal. Administer a probiotic first, otherwise you may be wasting the multivit due to poor gut absorption..
