homer Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Hi Guys I need yr advice, i moved a pair of birds that wer on eggs from one hutch to another.. and now they are not sitting on them..? plzzz advice b4 its too late... cheers as far as the birds are concerned , their eggs are back in the old hutch. move em back asap and you MAY be ok.
pigeonsRuS Posted February 5, 2008 Author Report Posted February 5, 2008 thanks guyz i havent got the old hutch, hence i purchased a new one... how long would the eggs be safe for if they dont sit on them, may b i can give em to my mate.
Guest shadow Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 think you are to late once birds are sitting they do not take to being disturbed
chickadee Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 have you got other birds sitting? maybe you could put an extra egg into two other couples if they are sitting, we have done that before. or if you have any broody hens that you use as sitters.
Andkar Lofts Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 big mistake sorry to say disturbing birds on eggs ,the only way now is to try & foster eggs under another pair or two as chickadee states ...... depending on how long they have not been sat ,will determine if embryo still alive, if a couple /few hours may be lucky if you foster them NOW,they may feel cold ,but still may be ok ..... think you've learnt a valuable lesson the hard way ..........
pigeonsRuS Posted February 5, 2008 Author Report Posted February 5, 2008 think you've learnt a valuable lesson the hard way .......... yup big mistake, i feel gutted
Guest spin cycle Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 don't fret there is still plenty of time. if it's any consolation my breeding season is off to it's usual farcical start with mistakes to embarrasing to air . i'm so fed up with it i'm thinking about waiting for a bit of better weather before i breed any more.best wishes COLD ,WET and WINDSWEPT of norfolk
carlsberg Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 my breeding season started off bad i paired up on dec 1st 3pairs went down down straight away the rest did not go down until the 5th to the 25 th of jan the 3pairs that laid have all gone down again i put mine on barley after 2wks from 1st pair going down . so it goes to show no matter how long you have had pigeons you are still never too old to learn
