cokacola Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Look at this I built, I havn't got any close ups at the moment, but here's a picture I just took from my bedroom window. It looks like a pile of rubbish, but you know what, I think it works! My pigeons should be comming in soon They don't come in straight away and this is something I need to work on when I finally get some young birds. Tariq.
Peckedhen Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Well done Tariq, I certainly couldn't have attempted a sputnik when I was sixteen (heck, I couldn't attempt one now and I'm a tad older than 16! :) The trick to getting your birds in, is to reduce the feed. It taken me three years to learn this!! I was so worried that they would be hungry; it needed someone to give me a measure and insist I didn't give them any more than that. They came in like rockets and were jumping in the feed bucket as I was emptying for them! I upped it a bit and now they are brilliant at coming in. Give it try, it feels so much better when you are in control. edit: typo
matt Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 the birds dont care what it looks like mate aslong as it does the job nice one ;D
cokacola Posted February 13, 2008 Author Report Posted February 13, 2008 Cheers Guys. Peckedhen: That's great, I had already been advised to cut back the food, but my birds have never been that hungry, I'l give it a try! Tariq.

cokacola Posted February 17, 2008 Author Report Posted February 17, 2008 Thanks everyone, it works too! Scott - if you google it, you should come up with quite a few results, basically the cocks and hens have different shaped heads/different behaviour. I havn't got any eggs from my stock pair yet, not sure when they're going to go to nest. I really can't wait to get some young birds into my loft and start training them!
