birdman09 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 greetings everyone, I am from the bahamas there any people over here who keep pidgeons but i am looking to find professional advice, because the keepers over here only keep them and feed them everyday but never check for them majority don't even know how much they have or what kinds they have, and lofts over here are a pitty, i am going to buil a loft 60ft long 60 wide and 50tall, is that too small to fit like 40-60 pigeons, well the true question is if i build a loft now and add just one pair will they breed later on if it's only them 2 or do i need to add atleast 3 or 4 pairs. I would most greatfully appreciate some advice ,THANK YOU!!!

First of "Welcome Aboard" with a bit of luck, you will get plenty of helpful advise here ;D ;D ;D it's a terrific site & some of us, may ???? exaggerate a wee bit at times (No names) but your in a class of your own at this stage :P . Some wee loft your building :D there etc. How you gonna catch them :P Plane !!!!!!!. Sorry !!!!, my apoligies for being who I'm here, but you may like to re adjust those dimensions of your loft etc, (Oops, I see you have now) I would assume ????? ;D ;D ;D it's some what bigger than most of our houses that we live in (Could be wrong). Enjoy.
Guest shadow Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 WELCOME hope you are going to have plenty of smaller sections in the 60ft loft otherwise you will have problems catching them
Peckedhen Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 i am going to buil a loft 60ft long 60 wide and 50tall, is that too small to fit like 40-60 pigeons, well the true question is if i build a loft now and add just one pair will they breed later on if it's only them 2 or do i need to add atleast 3 or 4 pairs. I would most greatfully appreciate some advice ,THANK YOU!!! Well, I think we've established the size of your loft :-/ You will have more than enough room for 60 pigeons. Yes, you could just add one pair and they will breed away quite happily for you; their sons and daughters will also pair up and breed but, you wouldn't really want all your birds to come from one pair. Do you intend to race? If so you need to obtain some good racing pigeons. I suggest that you find a club, near you, and ask successful members there if they will breed you some young birds to start you off.
birdman09 Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 Thats where the problem comes in, The bahamas has no clubs, none of those things, i wish someone here could come over and show the bahamas what pigeons can do, how there are many different breeds and colors.
