sapper756 Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 As a continuation to my last thread, which sex would you send to a one loft race, I am sending 2 cocks, what are your views?
Wiley Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 personally i'd send a hen in my experienc with ybs the hens in my own loft race better as babies so id say a hen
doo Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 In 2001 I had the good fortune to enter a nest pair of cocks into the first ever UK chatrace flowen from Maidstone - Sunderland & was 1st & 5th ....so I'd obviously say cocks
sapper756 Posted February 21, 2008 Author Report Posted February 21, 2008 As a continuation to my last thread, which sex would you send to a one loft race, I am sending 2 cocks, what are your views? The reason I posed this question, was because I believe most of the entries will be early bred youngsters, therefor by the time the races come around, they will be matured, so much so that they will pair up. So will they be seperated by sex? if not, will hens lay? Therefor this is why I prefer to send cocks, because I believe you win both ways :-/
kev Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Good question, both times I sent to a one loft race I had the birds picked out from early on and never took much notice of their sex. If I had a choice I would send hens because they seem to be harder to lose as youngsters, young cocks tend to go down much quicker but thats just my opinion (obiously Doo would think differant, well done)and also as you said you have the egg factor, so its a tricky one. Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Chrissy and myself have 2 bred and rung for it, they are going regardless of what sex they are, were picked to go to this race , a couple weeks and they will be ready to go whether they are cocks or hens .
