Yes suppose we could all race from say 300 miles on a certain day, however the champion would be dictated by Velocity, which in turn would be at the mercy of wind direction.

To many skeptics would shoot down such a competition.

However would like to link an idea which is connected to another thread, to commemorate those lost during the fist word war at YPRES.

Many moons ago when writing in the B H W ,I covered the idea of a relay race, which would be used in order to commemorate big historical events.

I understand some logistical problems however the concept i believe is a good one.

From YPRES to the far north of Scotland. Now all the governing bodies will come up with reason why this or that can not take place.

If its what the fancier wants we can make it happen.

guessing 600/700 miles with say 5/6 lofts in each team with the sole purpose off getting, an undisclosed number to the last loft who would phone in that number and be given a place there and then.Indeed thought would have to go in to this however it is the concept i put forward as an idea to get us in the uk working together while doing it for a good cause. In addition to this it would generate much needed publicity if nothing else.

It would sure put the proverbale cat amonst them in Scotland Members of diffrent National clubs flying in the same team

Can i have your thought on this please

You would need at least one of each member from opposing organisations at each loft along the relay line to confirm no cheating, this would also bring them together for a day :-/

Yes Correct.

The transportation of the birds say 100 miles south in each leg can also be done in relay. Would say each loft taking part could send three birds, to represent his team on that leg.As soon as arrives liberate the next three for the next leg.

If we run out of light or whether closes in, the race would be suspended,And restarted at the appropriate time.Combined Velocity being used in order to give placings.

Much to be discussed but this really may appeal to a lot of fanciers. Only by talking and discussing will we get an idea of what they want.

I am first to admit would take a lot of organizing however the benefit would appear to be great. I beleive with all the stiff within our sport it would go a long way to bringing us together while at the same time breaking new ground.

Cheers

If this race is open to all of the UK then we already would have the problem of distance measurement variations between different organisations. The SHU for whatever reason seems to be the odd one out when it comes to distances and I would not expect fanciers racing to the north of England accepting that SHU distances seem to be quite a few miles less than RPRA distances from the same racepoint. This problem does not only affect fanciers in Scotland using different bodies for supply of measurements.
