Guest chrisss Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 is that its nest mate blue hen yep thats the one, they have both turned out to be nice looking birds if they race like they look, then my fellow club members are going to have their eyes opened[i was going to say they are going to have their axxx ripped out,but why be disrespectful for all the help they gave me!!!!!] talk about incentive to win!!!!!sorry to sound so negitive but the idea of your local club helping new starters does not apply in a lot of clubs now days
carlsberg Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 hope they do as well as they look as then i have a chance with their nest mates lol
Guest karl adams Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 yes i will be racing young birds this year as a small team is better then a large 1 if i only 6 young left they would still get raced because thats what i had them for
Guest chrisss Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 yes i will be racing young birds this year as a small team is better then a large 1 if i only 6 young left they would still get raced because thats what i had them for hate to sound like a prat [well no more than normal]but good luck i think you deserve it, for what you have done, there are not a lot of guys who would have done that,i assumed that you were not racing after doing this
carlsberg Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 well done karl i also thought you would not be racing this season so best of luck you deserve it
alex wight Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 I was in a desprate position not so long ago as documented on this site, with reference to my arson attack. I didnt have to shout out for help as this hit everyone , even the non-fancier. The offers of birds and equipment from the members all over was overwhelming, and i cant thank you all enough. To the point, if you are a genuine person with a genuine cause, the unlimited help you recieve from the people i call friends, is as i say overwhelming. I will keep the site up to date with my future progress, i have nothing to hide so i will gladly share with all. There are a few people who are grabbers and seek freebies and will not think twice about dupping the kindhearted people you find on here and in the fancy in general. That is why people are cautious, not because they dont want to help, but they do want a little appreciation from people they help. I,m getting ready to drive to England 173 miles to pick up 11 young birds to help me get started again. I want to do this because i want to meet the person in person who kindly offered me the best of his birds. He stays in the vacinity of my dad, who i,m killing 2 birds with one stone(excuse the pun). I,m also going to meet Jackie Wedgewood whom i gave 2 young birds last year in return for 2 of his. He won last week with my bird so, thats the level i personally go to to thank people, its all about building a trust up with people. Long winded maybe but i just wanted to put my view across.

Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Glad to here it boomerang. This has been an interesting thread. I do think that the site should should look at all new starts and give accordingly.By this i mean help collectavly. This may be something Webmaster could look, at in order that new starts get help when needed while at the sametime, being able to monitor just what help they have received In other words orginized assistance Rab
Blue Chequer Pied Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 I am starting out again after 8 years out of the sport. 8 long hard years I may add. When word got out that I was starting up again I have been inundated with offers of birds, equipment, help and advice etc. I am in the fortunate position of knowing many fanciers and having many friends for before. This time round I have very specific ideas of what I want and I will buy the birds that I want. Others who are new to the sport may not have any contacts within the sport and this forum is a fantastic starting point for them. Unfortunately there are chancers on here as in every walk of life but we should not tar everyone with the same brush. Well done to all the guys who are helping out new starters it is to be commended. Remember the majority of 'pigeon men' are good people and tend to help more than in most other hobbies. Forget the rouges, chancers etc. and concentrate on the geniune fanciers.
thunderboult Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 i don't mind giving birds to people when they are genuine , but as peter pointed out when the first thing they ask is for birds you have to look at it carefully. 2 years ago i give an entire round about 30 birds to some lads in newcastle area after their lofts were burned down on allotments,i've also given to youngster's starting up. but i've also been duped before as well .

Guest Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 please explain how this makes sense pigeon in my kitchen has 460 replys birds for restarter has 2 yes2 replys its a wonder anyone bothers i read this site and most quoate how well they fly try flying to this fanicer i really feel sorry for the new starters as they all seam to be tared with the same brush, my advice would be for him to go on pigeon-chat as they offer you a mentor when your new and he/she will also put you in touch with someone in your area who maybe able to help with birds. The mentor will give you there email addy aswell. so even if like me in the early days you thought a question you had sounded daft you could email him/ her and they would answer.
