Guest Vic Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Hi Guys! Remember the post when I mentioned losing a yearling that had previously been "hawked"? The race was from the coast, but within a few weeks it re-grew all its lost flights etc. So I sent him to Fourgeres, and he was the only absentee out 9 sent. Anyway! I had a phone call from a fancier in Wilshire this week who lives near a place called Melksham reporting the bird. He said that he would try to liberate it further north to help it on its way, giving it a "jockey" so to speak. He also stated that the bird was in good condition. This morning whilst putting my w/hens to this weeks channel team, it shot into the loft. So I promptly placed his hen in with him. We are marking tomorrow, with the increased distance, so this will be the last race for half of my channel team before the 500 miler next week. He looks really well may I add. Do you think that I have done the right thing? Afterall, he's just had a 150 mile plus single up.
Guest Vic Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Oh! by the way. When I phoned the fancier up to thank him for giving it a "jockey". . He was amazed, saying that he couldn't find a jockey, and he thought the bird was still amongst his own. Funny old game eh!
